Pain of the Hip in the Evening While Lying Sideways: Causes and Treatment

1. Bursitis
There are small sacs filled with fluid which provide support to the joints. These sacs are known as bursae, and bursitis happens when these sacs become inflamed. The symptoms of bursitis include pain in your upper thigh and hip, it also includes sharp pain that can result in ache in your hips. Pain in your hips after sitting for a long time is also due to bursitis.
This pain can last for days and weeks as well. You can relieve this pain if it is due to bursitis by placing an ice pack on your hips.
2. Osteoarthritis
Osteoarthritis is another common reason for the pain in your hips. There are other types of arthritis pains as well which causes pain in your hip. The symptoms might include pain in your groin, pain in your knee, thighs, and buttocks. This type of pain becomes extreme during rainy weather, and pain while pending and sleeping as well. People over the age of 50 may experience this type of pain.

3. Tendonitis
Pain in the hip is due to tendons as well. Tendons actually attach your muscles to your bones which help in movements. When these tendons inflame you will experience pain in your hip. This type of pain is called tendonitis. You will feel a lot of pain in your buttocks if it is due to inflammation of tendons.
You can treat this with different exercises. Keeping ice on your hips can also give you relief and use some anti-inflammatories to get relief from it. Try to reduce your movements as well and try to get some rest if you are experiencing this pain in the hip regularly.
4. Sciatic-piriformis syndrome
Sciatic pain in the body is a tingling and numbness which runs between the lower back and sometimes down the leg and into the foot. You will also experience pain in your buttocks if you are having the sciatic-piriformis syndrome. When you try to sleep you will feel a sense of burning in your calf which will halt your sleep. An extreme pain in your foot can also awake you during the night and keeps you awake all the night.
Some stretching exercises are very useful to recover from the sciatic-piriformis syndrome. Apply some ice packs as well on your hip to avoid the pain in your hip.
